Greetings from Zambia, and compliments of the season!

It is always a pleasure for us at Save The Girls, to give you an update, on the situation of the ground, in relation to the construction of our 1x4 classroom block in Nyamasinda Village.

Allow me, on behalf of the Save The Girls’ Board and Management, to heartedly thank you for your generosity, and for the US1,025.00 that we received from you, through GlobalGiving, on 14^th July 2021. As at November 2021, we have in our account a total of US$1,254.00.

We could not initiate the roofing works at the school, because the available amount was not sufficient to see us through the roofing works. As you may be aware, we are still short of US$3,950, for the procurement of steels, iron sheets, and other items and initiation of the works.

Our Plan

To ensure quality works, the Save The Girls Management plans to carry out the roofing works in one phase, meaning, the procurement of the steel bars, the iron sheets, and other needed items, and completely roof the building. Doing so, will allow the learners to temporally start using the classrooms to the rain season, and give them more space in this era of Covid-19.

Cognisant of your great financial support and its impact on the ground, we are once more appeal to you to help us raise the outstanding amount of US$3,950.00 to help us complete the roofing works.

Greetings from Zambia.

I would like to appreciate your continue support rendered to Save The Girls to see our project progressing up to the roof level;

This project has brought change in the lives of many people starting from the community members and leaders to the learners and teachers.

This project has given an opportunity to a girl child have access to quality education near their homes. They don’t have to walk 5 km to have access to education.

Through this project, community members and leaders have come to understand the importance of girl’s education not only boys. It has given work to volunteer teachers who dedicate their time and energy to teacher the vulnerable children in their community.

However, learners and teachers are still facing a big challenge Amidst COVID-19 of shortage of classrooms.

To keep you our sponsors updated on our fundraising progress , since November 2020 we have managed to raise through your donations $228.80. Thank you once more for this gift which will go along way. However, the stage where the project has reached need a substantial amount of money for us to put up a roof, windows and doors.

The Head Master says: my prayer is to see learners shifting in the newly constructed building upon reaching completion to solve the problem of overcrowding in classrooms amidst COVID-19 putting teachers and children at risk of this contagious virus. Currently learners are not able to completely adhere to the measures put in place against COVID-19 such as social distancing because of shortage of classrooms leading to learners dropping out of school. Any support to see this great project through its completion will have a big impact in the lives of vulnerable children especially on a girl child in accessing quality education.

Giving an update to benefactors who help us made a difference in the lives of the children of Nyamasinda is always a moment of joy and appreciation.

Let me start by informing you about a change of our organization’s name, from Rural Children’s Hope to Save The Girls, change driven by the changing landscape in our communities where girls are still being denied access to education and are victims of early marriages and teenage pregnancies. Last Sinda District from January to September, recorded 171 teenage pregnancies as a result of school closure due to COVID-19.[1]That said, allow me to thank you for your continued support, since 2018, towards the building of the school in Nyamasinda.

From a tiny one classroom where more than 300 learners were receiving their education, we are now boasting of 3 additional classrooms, which are at roofing level.

Day after day, our learners keep on asking us the same question: “when are we going to start using the new classrooms?” With the sensitization that our teachers have been giving to the learners of the public health and social preventive measures against Covid-19, learners are looking forward to the day they will be able to apply social distancing in the classrooms.

With our 1x3 classrooms block at the roofing level, since November 2020, we can only count on your continued and generous support for its completion. The Covid-19 pandemic’s community spread has been on the increase and cases of Covid-19 have since been diagnosed in Sinda District. Urgently roofing, fixing the doors and windows of the new building is for now our only hope of saving the lives of our learners and protecting them from the pandemic. We need your financial support now than ever before. Please give us the final push and impact the lives of the children of Nyamasinda. kindly consider starting a monthly recurring donation and share the project to your friends to support this noble cause.
