Our Multi-front Strategy to Stop Human Trafficking begins with focused influence through training and coaching with governments to bring into place policies that work to end trafficking. We bring civic groups, police, justice, and educational leaders into relationship and training toward identifying at-risk or those in trafficked situations quickly. Advocating for change, bringing justice and training those in power will lead to an end in slavery globally.
Globally, those living in extreme poverty and in rural areas often are born at home without birth certificates. As these children grow up, they become vulnerable to trafficking, greater poverty and the inability to gain education or employment as a result of having no identification. This contributes to the growing global human trafficking travesty. One way we work to end trafficking is by helping vulnerable communities obtain legal identification papers.
GHNI will send Charlie Lamento to Indonesia on several journeys working with rural families to obtain birth certificates and other means of identification through his legal expertise and services. Offering hope for a better future through the process of simple legal services at no cost to these families. Immediately, doors open for education and employment that were not open to them without these important documents, reducing vulnerability significantly.
Long term impact will include ongoing income, a better future for children due to their family's ability to provide for them and due to being allowed to participate in educational services - school, testing, and advanced education. Generation after generation will build upon this foundation as documentation continues to be the norm, rather than the exception. Charlie will assure long term cyclical ability for these regions to have access to documentation.
This project has provided additional documentation in a DOCX file (projdoc.docx).
