Access to clean, safe drinking water is a daily challenge for displaced families living in informal camps across Northern Idlib. To prevent water scarcity and reduce waterborne diseases, BESME INSANI executed an emergency water trucking operation targeting overcrowded camp settlements. Over a three-week period, our mobile water tankers delivered 420,000 liters of purified drinking water to 1,400 displaced households (~7,000 individuals).
Lacking municipal water connections, displaced families in these settlements depend entirely on trucked water. Private commercial vendors charge high prices that destitute families cannot afford. Our project provided regular, free water trucking directly into installed household water tanks and communal storage bladders.
Prior to delivery, field technicians performed routine water quality testing, including chlorine residual measurements, to ensure safety standards at source wells. Field staff coordinated with camp committees to schedule fair delivery routes, ensuring equal water access for all residents, especially female-headed families and the elderly.
The consistent supply of safe drinking water mitigates acute health risks and relieves families of a heavy financial burden. BESME INSANI remains committed to maintaining emergency WASH services to safeguard vulnerable displaced populations across Northern Idlib.
