Clean Water Program Report: Installation of Filtra

Project Overview

As part of the Clean Water Program, Power in UA successfully installed a modern water filtration station in Dokuchaevske, a settlement within the Rohan community. This location was selected due to its higher level of need and larger population compared to alternative sites originally considered.

The installed station features a sixstage filtration system, including:

sediment prefilter
activated carbon filter
water softening unit (salt)
antiscalant dosing
reverse osmosis membrane
ultraviolet sterilization

The system produces 300 liters per hour, providing up to 5 tons of clean drinking water per day — enough to reliably meet the daily needs of the entire settlement.

Impact on the Community

Before installation, Dokuchaevske faced significant challenges accessing safe drinking water. Many households relied on sources that did not meet sanitary standards, increasing health risks for families, especially children and elderly residents.

With the new filtration station in place:

all 5,200 residents now have access to safe, clean drinking water;
the risk of waterborne illnesses has been significantly reduced;
the community has a stable water supply even during infrastructure disruptions or power outages;
overall quality of life and public health indicators have improved.

This project was completed with the support and partnership of CUF, whose contribution played a key role in ensuring timely installation, delivery of equipment, and full operational readiness of the station.

Training and Handover

Power in UA provided full training for local technical staff responsible for daily operation and maintenance. The first service cycle was completed by our team, after which the station was officially handed over to the community.

The community received:

a full set of replacement cartridges and membranes;
a oneyear supply of antiscalant;
detailed maintenance and operational instructions.

Conclusion

The water filtration station in Dokuchaevske is fully installed, tested, and functioning in normal operating mode. The project successfully achieved its goal of providing reliable access to clean drinking water for the entire settlement.

This achievement was made possible thanks to the support of CUF, whose collaboration strengthened the impact of the Clean Water Program and helped deliver essential assistance to a community in need.

A New Water Station Brings Hope to Bogodukhiv

Dear friends,

Because of your generosity through the GlobalGiving Emergency Relief Fund, we have just completed the installation of a new community water filtration station in Bogodukhiv, a frontline town in the Kharkiv region. This achievement is more than a technical upgrade — it is a lifeline for families living under constant threat.

And it was made possible by you.

A community that refuses to give up

Bogodukhiv lies dangerously close to the Russian border. Airraid sirens, explosions, and damaged infrastructure have become part of daily life. Yet the people here continue to show extraordinary resilience. They rebuild, they support one another, and they refuse to surrender their hope for a peaceful future.

When we began this project, local residents immediately stepped forward. They helped prepare the site, laid paving stones, installed outdoor access points, and made sure the station would be visible and accessible to everyone — especially the elderly and families with children. Their hands are literally in every part of this installation.

This is what community resilience looks like.

A full water purification and softening system

Outdoor access points so any resident can fill containers for free

Your Support Brought Safe Water to Solonytsivka

Dear friends,

Thanks to your generosity through the GlobalGiving Emergency Relief Fund, we have opened our 17th emergency water station in the Kharkiv region — this time in Solonytsivka, a frontline community where families have endured months of unstable water supply and frequent power outages.

Your support made this possible.

Why Solonytsivka needed help

Repeated attacks on critical infrastructure have left thousands of residents without reliable access to clean drinking water. Many households were forced to rely on unsafe sources or travel long distances to fill containers. Local authorities reached out urgently — and because of you, we were able to respond immediately.

What your donation achieved

With GlobalGiving’s emergency funding, our team installed a community water purification station that now provides up to 5,000 liters of safe drinking water every day. The system includes:

Multistage filtration
UV disinfection
Foodgrade storage
Backup power to ensure operation during blackouts

The station began serving residents the same day it was installed.

A moment from the field

When the station opened, Mykola, a retired teacher, arrived with two canisters. He told us:

"We’ve been boiling water for weeks. This station gives us safety again. It feels like someone remembers us.”
