STEPS Organizing Cancer Awareness and Screening camps in slums. During these camps STEPS Doctor screening the women for cancers and educating women about different cancers & its symptoms.

 Greetings from STEPS NGO.

      Organized cancer awareness health camp for women and they are educated about breast & cervical cancers.

      We are trying to develop new partnerships with cancer organizations, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies to assist us by offering treatment at a reduced cost or donating medicines for treatment.

 “With this program the women are able to know their health status related to cancers. I am thankful to STEPS NGO and GlobalGiving for this initiative of cancer awareness and screening of women” Said one of the beneficiary.

    The new initiative we are planning is, to start creating cancer awareness among Sex workers. These women are at a higher risk of developing these cancers due to their HIV status.

Greetings from STEPS NGO

Cancer can have a devastating impact on women and their families.There is need for timely good medical intervention to create awareness and screening of women in slums of Kalahasti. During coming days we are planning to reach  more communities living slums.

With your support we would like to increase services so that we can save lives and reduce suffering by helping women get access to healthcare.We are also trying for new partnerships with cancer organizations, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies who can assist us for implementing this program.

 One of the beneficiary of program expressed that “by attending cancer awareness programs organized by STEPS NGO with the support of Global Giving, we know about women cancers and their symptoms. We can do self examination for the breast cancer symptoms. Thanks for the donors who are behind this program.”

Every month women are being screened for breast cancer. Women living in slums are making use of our facility and are being referred to us from other institutions. Women with abnormalities that were detected during the screening were referred to higher institutions for further investigations and treatment. We are planning to provide screening service to any woman who needs it living in Srikalahasti town. A special thanks to our staff, volunteers for ensuring that women receive help through our free services.

Greetings from STEPS NGO

Through this project educating and creating awareness about cancers among women community. This education can ensure the women to save themselves from cancers.

 We have organized cancer awareness and screening program in Salipeta slum, Srikalahasti, India. By attending cancer awareness camps women and adolescent girls in slums are aware of different cancers and they are approaching STEPS Health center for initial screening.

One of the beneficiary aged about 45 years staying in slipeta slum. She used to get chest pain frequently. Even though she had taken treatment the pain was not cured. She attended Cancer awareness camp organized by STEPS NGO. She approached STEPS Health centre for the advice. After initial examination & screening, she was referred to Tirupati for further tests and Mammogram test. Test result showed that she have a tumor in the initial stages. She was prescribed medicines. She said” After the treatment, now I am not getting pain and the tumor is completely cured. I am very much thankful to Donors for supporting this program through Global Giving and STEPS NGO for implementing the program.”

We are very thankful to donors for supporting this program through GlobalGiving. We have organized cancer awareness and screening program in Gajendranagar slum, Srikalahasti, India.

 The women community living in slums started knowing about the different cancers, mode of infection and precautions to be taken to prevent them.

The woman in the above picture initially screened for cancer by the STEPS Health Centre gynecologist. She expressed that “cancer awareness provided by STEPS with the support of GlobalGiving is more beneficial to the poor women living in slums and useful for the early diagnosis of cancer.”
