Cancer Awareness & Screening of 3000 Indian women

         Through this project educating, screening and creating awareness about cancers among women community. This education can ensure the women to save themselves from cancers.

         We have organized cancer awareness and screening program in Kailasagiri colony slum, Srikalahasti, India. Gynecological examinations were offered by specialized Gynaecologyst to bring awareness among women for the importance of medical checkups that helps to prevent the diseases. By attending cancer awareness camps in slums, women are aware of different cancers and they are approaching STEPS Health center for initial screening.

“I feel we are thankful to STEPS NGO, GlobalGiving and Donors for supporting this life saving initiative.” said one of the beneficiaries      

         We are also delighted to develop new partnerships with cancer organizations, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies who can support our initiative by offering project running support, medicines at a reduced cost or donating medication for treatment.

       Through this program raising awareness about cancers among women community. Conducted Cancer Screening and Awareness camp in STEPS Health Centre.

      One of the program beneficiaries in the above picture, sharing her experiences, said “I have been attending Health camps organized by STEPS NGO. Through this program I came to know about women cancers and got myself screened for breast cancer. I am thankful to STEPS for conducting this type of program with the support of Global giving through raising support from the donors”.

       Thank you for helping us to provide cancer screening and awareness to these women who are below poverty line and from deprived communities. It is because of your support, we are able to organize this program in slums of Srikalahasti. We need your help to continue offering these health services to women in slums. During Cancer awareness camps, educating women about different cancers and explaining about precautions to be taken to prevent Cancer. Conducting initial screening of women for Cancers during health camps.

Organized cancer awareness and screening program in Santhamaidanam slum, Srikalahasti, India. Women staying in this slum are illiterates and they don’t know about their personal hygiene. Dr Prameelamma explained about the importance of hygiene and how to maintain personnel hygiene so that they can protect themselves from Cancers. Women were examined and screened for symptoms of cancer. With this project women are taking care of their health related to cancers.

One of the beneficiary said “STEPS NGO is conducting Cancer awareness and screening camps in our slums. Before that this type of health services were not provided for us. We are very much thankful to Donors for supporting this program through GlobalGiving and STEPS NGO for implementing the program.”

 STEPS NGO committed to providing good quality health care to women living in villages. Due to high risk behavior rural women are more prone to Breast and Cervical cancers. During initial screening of cancers providing treatment for infectious diseases also. STEPS  creates an environment where rural women feel safe and comfortable to talk about their social or domestic problems, report abuse or  ask health related questions. STEPS sharing information about breast and cervical cancer. Helping, guiding and continue to provide much needed breast cancer screening and other women’s health related screening to all women and extended communities.

 The women expressed their appreciation for visits offered by STEPS in their place where they live because they do not have a specialized doctor and they are not able to travel to cities for specialised hospital for treatment and advice due to the financial difficulties.

 One of the women expressed “because of STEPS support and through cancer awareness and initial cancer screening of us we could able to live safe and comfortable life”.

This program provides an essential health service to women in community where it was previously unavailable. STEPS organized Cancer Awareness and Screening camps on 22/02/2019 in Chinna Singamala village. During this camp Dr Prameelamma, Gynecologist explained about women cancers and screening done to village women.

  The women in the above picture expressed her appreciation and said “We are thankful for the visit conducted by STEPS NGO in our place where we live because we are not aware of cancers. We do not have facilities for initial cancer screening and we are not able to travel to towns for specialized hospital due to the financial difficulties. Thankful to Donors for supporting this program through GlobalGiving”.
