For many children in Makurdi, school is a source of fear instead of inspiration. Reports show that up to 80% of students face bullying, harassment, or violence, and the classroom can become a place where trauma is born. Research by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council confirms that violence is a leading reason for poor attendance and high dropout rates, especially among adolescent girls and vulnerable groups.
Our project aims to rewrite this story. By training 100 teachers and counsellors, we are ensuring that school staff can identify, address, and prevent bullying and abuse. We’re not only teaching 3,500 students skills in emotional regulation and conflict resolution but also building a support network through 20 peer-led clubs where students can share, heal, and empower one another.
This isn’t just about reducing violence—it’s about restoring faith in education. By improving reporting systems and reducing stigma, we give every child a trusted way to seek help. Your donation provides the resources, training, and emotional support that can turn a school from a battlefield into a sanctuary.
When you support this initiative, you’re not just protecting children; you’re investing in a generation of confident, mentally healthy youth who can break cycles of violence and lead their communities forward.
