In Makurdi’s schools, bullying and gender-based violence often go unseen and unaddressed. Nigerian national surveys indicate that over half of bullying incidents go unreported, leaving countless students to struggle alone with anxiety, depression, and PTSD. The psychological scars can last a lifetime, hindering academic performance and social development.
Our project shines a light on this hidden suffering. By training 100 teachers and counsellors, we’re creating a first line of defence—adults who can spot warning signs, intervene early, and provide compassionate support. We also focus on peer empowerment: 20 student-led clubs will serve as safe spaces for sharing and healing, while sensitization sessions for 3,500 students will break the silence around abuse and mental health.
Donor support is vital. Your contribution funds trauma-informed training, awareness workshops, and the systems needed to ensure no child falls through the cracks. You help create a school culture that sees, hears, and values every student.
Let’s work together to ensure that no child in Makurdi is left behind and that every student who faces bullying or abuse finds support and hope within their school community.
