Breaking Barriers: Empower IDP girls through Sport

Every Saturday, Delight embarks on a journey of over 20 kilometers to the Play and Excel training ground. These sessions are more than just practice for her; they're a sanctuary for a sense of belonging, friendship, and mentorship. The training sessions are more than a routine, they are a lifeline, a place where she has discovered a home away from home.

Delight, who used to play football with boys, was drawn to the Orah Bayit Foundation's program like a magnet. This time she is in the company of girls. Since the project's inception in October 2023, she has rarely missed a Saturday, cherishing every moment with her teammates. The companionship and mutual support among the girls have transformed her. She no longer feels alone, her self-esteem has soared, and her confidence shines through every stride on the field.

The Children’s Day celebration, filled with games, books, biros, and hygiene kits, was a testament to the joy and unity the program has fostered.

However, Delight and the 80 other girls in the program face challenges. Recently, she celebrated her birthday at the training ground, with her teammates who all lack proper training shoes, often enduring sore feet from what they can afford to wear. The long distances they walk leave them exhausted before they even begin their training Despite this, their spirit remains high, driven by their love for the game and the community they've built.

Your support has been crucial, but additional help is needed. Donations for proper footwear would significantly ease their journey and allow them to train comfortably. With your help, these girls can take steps closer to their dreams, pain-free.

We are grateful for your generous donations that have fueled our project's progress since October 2023. Thanks to your support, we've been able to, maintain consistent training sessions ensuring that the girls have regular access to quality football coaching and development opportunities.

Over 60 girls are now actively participating, with increasing interest each week!

We are also able to enhance hygiene practices as every girl has a personal water bottle, minimizing reliance on unsanitary alternatives.

During our 2024 International Women’s Day celebration, the girls showcased their girls' skills and expressed appreciation to their mothers who were present at their training session on March 9th.

Favour's story exemplifies the project's transformative power. Initially hesitant, her mother has now become Favour's biggest supporter, recognizing the value of Play & Excel in her daughter's life.
