The project "Play and Excel: Fostering Success through Sport" strives to empower and assist girls residing in IDP camps and low-income households in Kaduna, North West, Nigeria, by allowing them to participate in structured sports programs. By engaging 100 girls in sports, we aim to enhance their mental health, encourage education, cultivate essential life skills, and open doors for personal development and well-being. This also seeks to create gender balance in Sports.
Girls who are displaced due to the security challenges in parts of Kaduna State, Nigeria, face education loss, increased violence risk, and economic insecurity, leading to early marriages or child labor. Insecure regions worsen their struggles, impacting their future, mental health, and social connections. The proposed project aims to empower these girls through sports, breaking barriers, fostering skill development, and providing purpose.
Sports offer a safe space for girls to learn, grow, and develop skills, fostering relationships and a sense of belonging. Engaging internally displaced and low-income girls in sports instill purpose and confidence, shaping their futures. This project will utilize sports to raise awareness, challenge norms, and advocate for action from governments and organizations. Vital life skills like teamwork and confidence contribute to success in academics, careers, and life.
Girls who are empowered, through sports tend to stay in school, delay marriage, and pursue their dreams. Unity across backgrounds will foster trust and belonging. Involving 100 girls in Sports will challenge stereotypes, showcasing their strengths and capabilities. Success will inspire belief in self, creating a ripple effect in society. Sports as an empowerment tool, will foster positive change, build community, alter perceptions, and inspire others to make a difference in their lives.
