In rural Mpigi, Uganda, 500 women who head households are trapped in poverty with no capital to start businesses. Our Booster Grants program gives each woman $300 + quarterly business training so she can launch a shop and earn steady income to feed her family and keep her children in school.
In the face of a global economic downturn, Uganda grapples with rampant unemployment, especially among women and girls. Many are forced to migrate to urban centers for survival, often resorting to sex work after losing their primary breadwinners-if not due to illness, then to the harsh realities of life. As household poverty tightens its grip, countless children miss out on vital education & healthcare. We will uplift these families, boost their incomes, & combat the pervasive cycle of poverty
We believe that with a little help, these families can reclaim their futures. By providing $300 in targeted booster grants, we set the stage for self-reliance. Our support goes beyond monetary assistance; it includes in-kind contributions tailored to their existing businesses. From livestock and chicken feed for poultry farmers to additional stock for small retailers and clothing for boutique owners, we ensure our support meets their specific needs.
Through our initiative, families are not just recipients of aid; they are becoming empowered agents of change. We have organized them into village groups, fostering a supportive community where they learn essential business management skills. Additionally, we're instilling a culture of savings and low-interest lending within these groups, laying the groundwork for financial independence and resilience
