Your Support is Making a difference
Your Support is Making a difference

In this update, we would like to share news about the activities carried out in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.

Rani (Guntur, Andhra Pradesh)

Rani is an adolescent aged 15 years who was born with HIV. She was 9 when she and her parents were diagnosed HIV positive. Later her parents died in 2014 and she is currently living with her grandmother who is a tailor by profession. Recently her grandmother also got affected with paralysis because of which she was not in a position to continue stitching clothes for their living. Rani also became partially deaf and her health was deteriorating.

Your generous support have helped us enable them to start a small shop to earn a living. Their financial condition improved and at present, Rani is taking her medicines regularly and adhering to her Anti-retroviral treatment. She is living a healthy life and grateful for the support they received.

We provided nutrition support for one month and travel support for two months to 33 adolescents living with HIV in Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh, which has the highest burden of adolescents living with HIV.

Four care givers taking care of orphan adolescents living with HIV were given financial support to enhance their income generation opportunities. This helped them access testing and treatment, comprehensive youth friendly sexual and reproductive health services.
