This has been an exciting quarter for us. Your support has made all the difference.
Because of you, our Udaya project has been able to reach more than 70 adolescent boys and girls living with HIV. They are now eating healthier, more nutritious food, and they are able to regularly access the care and support services they need. Your generosity is giving them a chance for better lives!
We would like to share some stories of the young people we’ve reached with your support.
_____
Priyanka
HIV-positive since birth, Priyanka is a 12-year-old girl who lives with her grandmother, an agricultural labourer in the village of Guntur in Andhra Pradesh state. Although she has been receiving treatment since 2010, she is weak from her daily battle against the virus. Sadly due to financial constraints, Priyanka finds it difficult to get the medical care she needs. To make matters worse, she was recently asked to stop attending school when the school learned that she is living with HIV.
With your assistance, Priyanka is now back at school. She has been supported to visit the local Care & Support Centre (CSC). The counsellors at the CSC not only helped her get better, but they also reached out to the staff of her school to help them understand that there is no need to keep Priyanka out of school. She’s now, back at school, eating healthy food, and feels better than ever.
_____
Raju
Raju is a 15-year-old boy who lives with his elder brother and grandmother in Andhra Pradesh. Raju is also HIV positive. Poor financial conditions and lack of good nutrition coupled with the side effects of his antiretroviral treatment have had a severe impact on his health.
Thanks to your generous donations, Raju is now getting the extra care and nutritional support that he needs and is able to regularly visit his nearby CSC to access much needed services that are improving his overall wellbeing.
_____
Thank you for supporting adolescents like Priyanka, Raju and many more. As you make your giving decisions this year, we hope you will renew your support so we can continue giving to these children and their families the services they need.
