We are implementing a comprehensive national program of workshops led by recognized specialists to assist patients, caregivers & healthcare staff : art therapy, socio-aesthetics, coaching, physical activity, virtual reality =>Many positive effects for patients (experience hospitalization better; prevent/limit side effects & medications), parents/siblings (physically & emotionally), and facilitates post-healing life. Dedicated/shared sessions for healthcare staff are included since the pandemic.
We must help patients, especially younger ones, who suffer from isolation, anxiety, stress (with side effects & medication), feeling of uselessness and loss of self-esteem. Caregivers must not be forgotten: feelings of powerlessness, difficulties in coping (loss of employment for accompanying parent), disruption of siblings' childhood (long-term psychological consequences). You can help concretely hundreds of them by drastically reducing the disastrous consequences of hospitalization on families
The national workshop program radically improves the patient's care pathway: fewer medications and side effects, a better chance of recovery. E.g.: teenager socio-aestetics (reconstruction of eyebrows due to alopecia); music/sport to give oneself goals/hope; virtual reality (control upstream stress / facilitate painful medical acts). It also has a strong impact on caregivers, better able to support patients, suffering less.. Carers are less stressed and regain the energy to support patients.
Overall, the program have significant long-term impacts on society, limiting both the use of medication and cancer relapses. Families are better able to cope, with less trauma and need of (sometimes lifetime) psychological care. These workshops also promote carers resilience and stability in the workplace.
