Every minute, 6 kids drop out of school in Indonesia, a total of almost three million per year. They mainly dropout due to poverty. Despite government compulsory free education program, schools remain expensive for most people simply because other forms of fee still persists. In most cases, transportation and meal costs are still a burden to many. In addition to that, infrastructure remains a challenge in many remote areas in Indonesia. Affordability and accessibility are the two main reasons why
By the end of 2020, YCAB has set out to reach 100,000 underprivileged and school dropouts from across Indonesia through the establishment of 167 learning centers or Rumah Belajar. This will give teens at the bottom of pyramid a better chance to learn skills and continue their study through a junior and high school equivalent education. We are certain that when these teens receive education, they will stand a better chance of reaching their full potential and contributing to the formal economy.
The economic value of productive years for every dropout that finishes their study and secures employment is 156 times the opportunity cost of schooling hence contributing a total of US$10 billion to Indonesia's economy by the end of 2015. Every Dollar you can give will mean the world of difference to someone. The children will never know you, but they will never forget you. Please become an angel of change, our world needs new stars, your Dollars will help our children to shine more brightly.
Given the chance, this is what happens
Muntaka's story. Always brings a tear to my eye
What your Dollars actually do. Thank you.
