Recently, in mid-June we led a large effort with over 100 high school student volunteers from throughout Florida to positively impact community partners: the YMCA and the Grand Bahama Children's Home in Freeport on Grand Bahama Island. The island of Grand Bahama was severely impacted by Hurricane Matthew this past October, and the people there are still recovering from this devastating storm.
We were able to assist both centres with grounds and facilities restoration projects over the span of one week. We are currently planning to coordinate again with this large volunteer group to develop annual restoration projects to benefit Grand Bahama as many continue with restoring and rebuilding their lives. Individuals from the United States, Canada, and the Bahamas came together to make this unique project a success and for that we and the peopel we assisted are most grateful.
