This project will provide much needed disaster relief aid to the Bahamas. Every year thousands of tourists head to the beautiful country of the Bahamas to enjoy their beaches, hotels, and wonderful people. However, the average tourist does not realize the poverty that exists in the country. This poverty combined with a strong storm like Hurricane Matthew has had terrible consequences.
The Bahamas is in need of disaster relief following the ravage of Hurricane Matthew. The storm has destroyed and damaged homes, caused injuries, and created a state of emergency throughout the country.
We are partnering with a local Bahamian nonprofit called Lend a Hand Bahamas to disperse aid supplies to those who need it in Nassau and then to other family islands as well. Fund donated will be used to purchase the necessary materials for the relief efforts. We will rely on the local network of volunteers of Lend a Hand Bahamas to disperse aid supplies and further relief efforts in the country.
This project has the potential to aid a country that is often forgotten during hurricane landfalls in the Caribbean. This storm has displaced many impoverished individuals and caused great devastation; however, the Bahamas is resilient and will shine again with the help of its neighbors. This project has the potential impact to reach thousands of individuals in the Bahamas.
