Migrant families often struggle to afford essentials like school bags, books, and stationery, which often discourages children from attending school regularly. To address this, Sampark launched the Back to School campaign for migrant children in Bangalore, India. Through this campaign, Sampark distributed school supply kits to migrant children across the city, thus ensuring continued access to education.

By providing essential school supplies, the campaign:
This campaign not only gave children the tools to learn but also reinforced their right to education and continuity, despite the challenges of migration.
Case Story
Pavithra, a class 7 student, enrolled in a public school close to her home in a migrant informal labour settlement, started her new academic year in June, with a big smile on her face and confidence in heart. “We did not have a bag for school before Sampark provided us with a bag, pencils etc. We are extremely happy. I will use my new school bag to carry books, pencils, and erasers. I feel more confident to be in a classroom”, said Pavithra, a young beneficiary of the Back to School Campaign.
Sridevi, a mother, embodies the feeling of pride in her eyes and voice when she says, “My child has been studying in Doddakannelli Public School, Bangalore, India. Through Sampark’s help, my child has received a school bag which will help her carry her books, pencils and all the essentials together. Seeing my child comfortably carry her new bag to school makes me happy as well.”
These heartfelt stories from Pavithra and Sridevi reflect the true impact and importance of the Back to School Campaign, restoring dignity, joy, and a sense of belongingness to migrant children. With something as simple as a school bag and basic supplies, new curiosities and opportunities open up for them.
Immense Gratitude
Thanks to the generous support of our donors, migrant children across Bangalore were equipped with the supplies they needed to continue their education. This campaign not only helped children start the school year with dignity and enthusiasm but also relieved parents of a major financial burden. Together, we are ensuring that migrant children have the opportunity to learn, grow, and build brighter futures.
