Atlas Corps Asia and Europe

How are you today? November is an exciting month - we are thrilled to welcome new global leaders to the Atlas Corps community! 

• Class 40 - starts this month! They are our second Class of “blended” Fellows - starting service remotely and then transitioning to the United States when able. Meet the Fellows!
• Cohort 1 - we welcome our first group of Virtual Leadership Institute Scholars. Our new online learning community builds on our established model and increases our abilities to engage global leaders around the world. Meet the Scholars!

Amidst the challenges of this year, we continue to advance impact. To celebrate, we invite you to meet our community of 850 global leaders from 99 countries during the Atlas Corps Global Impact Gala on December 16th 12pm EST. 

During the Gala (for the first time virtual), we will honor former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright with the Global Changemaker Award! We will also be joined by Alumni, Fellows and Scholars, including Alumni like Fernanda (Class 22, Mexico). Passionate about advancing youth development in Latin America, she served at the Latin American Youth Center during her Fellowship. She is active in the Alumni community and applies her training in her current work with Latin American Leadership Academy.

Hello-

On behalf of Atlas Corps, we send you our best through these challenging times. Even though we may be physically distant, we appreciate the inspiration we gain from bring socially connected through our e-communication. We also appreciated your continued support of our community!

On that note, we want to share with you the story of an inspiration within our community: Alumna Gargi (Class 1, India).

Currently, Gargi works with UNICEF to ensure the safety of children in Bihar state, India. During the pandemic, she has continued to work with the Police Department and other first responders to ensure that children have safe living conditions during the lockdown. Gargi has also launched a personal project to raise funds and advocate for populations who have been further marginalized by COVID-19 such as migrants laborers.

Gargi shares her personal insights on the pandemic:

"We all have a role to play during the current pandemic. I would like to share here that even in my personal capacity, I have been able to reach out to about 150 migrants while working from home in Kolkata. We were able to make dry ration packets and I was able to generate funds through my personal contacts and friends. During these challenging times, it is important that we all find solace in our communities and look for ways that we can help to support each other. Nobody expected that this year would go the way it has, but if we all work together, we can alleviate some of the damage of COVID-19. Whether it be starting a fundraising campaign, donating to an organization, or providing masks and other personal protective equipment, we all have a role that we can play."
