This report outlines the proposed project aimed at improving the nutritional status of 190 stunted children in Eastern Province/Rwanda. The project's goal is to provide a balanced diet, distribute 3 egg-producing chickens to each household, and offer nutrition education to ensure long-term, sustainable improvement in the health and well-being of these children.
Problem statement:
Malnutrition and stunting are critical issues affecting children in the Eastern Province of Rwanda. Many households lack access to nutritious food, and as a result, children suffer from stunted growth and developmental challenges. there is an urgent need for interventions that address both immediate nutritional needs and provide long-term, sustainable solutions to household food insecurity.
Objectives:
1. Provide a balanced diet to 190 stunted children, improving their nutritional intake and overall health.
2. Distribute 3 egg-producing chickens to each household, ensuring a sustainable source of protein through eggs.
3. Conduct nutrition education sessions for households to improve knowledge on balanced diets, hygiene, and sustainable food production.
Implementation Strategy:
1. Nutrition Program: Over 6 months, the children will receive a balanced diet rich in proteins, vitamins, and minerals. The diet will include essential food groups that promote healthy growth and address deficiencies causing stunting.
2. Livelihood Support: To ensure sustainability, each household will receive 3 best egg-producing chickens. These chickens will not only provide a regular source of protein (eggs) but will also create a small income-generating activity for the families.
3. Nutrition Education: Regular workshops and community meetings will be conducted to educate parents and caregivers about the importance of nutrition, how to maintain a balanced diet with locally available foods, and proper hygiene practices to prevent malnutrition-related diseases.
Current Status:
Despite careful planning, the implementation of this project has been delayed due to insufficient funds. We seek support from well-wishers, the GlobalGiving community, and donors who share our vision of tackling childhood stunting and malnutrition.
Call for Support:
We believe that this project has the potential to make a significant impact on the lives of these children and their families. However, we need financial assistance to fully implement the program and achieve our goals. We appeal to well-wishers, donors, and global communities to cheerfully contribute to this life-changing initiative. No matter how small, every donation will bring us closer to realizing a brighter, healthier future for these children.
Conclusion:
The stunted growth of children due to malnutrition is a preventable condition. by providing balanced diets, sustainable food sources, and education, we can help these 190 children thrive and break the cycle of poverty and poor health. We thank you in advance for your generosity and commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable children.
