2019 ARN CHORN-POND LIVING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP

By Phacdey Phary | Development Coordinator

Warmest greetings from Cambodain Living Arts!

We would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation and gratitude to all of your generosity to support our Scholarship Program! Your support has tremendous impact to our young artists enabling them to continue to explore their talent and build their capacity in Cambodia Culture and Arts.

On September 6th at the National Museum in Phnom Penh, we celebrated our 5 Arn Chorn-Pond scholarship graduates and welcomed our 10 new recipients!

LEEMENG

Leemeng, one of the five graduating students this year, stood proud on the stage sharing his achievements to newly selected scholarship students and the audience that were from different institutions in Cambodia. Leemeng was awarded a two year scholarship from Cambodian Living Art in 2016 in the field of Playwright and Scriptwriting.

With the support of the scholarship, Leemeng wrote and filmed an educational short film named, "Short Hair Lady". In 2017, the film won the popularity award from Legacy Film Lab based in Cambodia.

"After joining Arn Chorn-Pond scholarship Program, I have more confidence to do my own work under high responsibilities. For these two years, I increasingly developed myself to become a self-independent artist. Throughout the enriched program provided by the Scholarship Program, I became aware of how important it is for every student to participate. It provides us a lot of opportunities to build new connections and build relationships with both individual and community artist. I am very happy to take part in Scholarship program and I am really proud of myself to be who I am today".

SAVRY

Savry, who is one of our new scholarship students, was very delighted to be awarded the scholarship program this year in the field of Classical Song. She hopes that the scholarship will help her achieve her lifelong dream of becoming part of the next generation of classical singers. She strongly believes that this program will not only provide her the opportunity to stimulate her passion, but it will provide her the opportunity to become a professional artist in the future too.

“I am very honored to be selected for the Arn Chorn-Pond Scholarship Program. It is my dream to become the classical singer. Now my dream comes true. I will study hard and develop myself on my already-born artistic skill through the enriched programs provided by the Scholarship program. I will maintain my dream as one of the next generation to be a classical singer to preserve my culture and arts."

- Savry, 2019 Arn Chorn-Pond Scholarship recipient.

Graduating students significantly develop themselves to become professional and potential artists equipped with creativity, communication, technical and management skills and future leaders in their careers.
