Amar Seva Sangam's efforts to fight Covid 19.

The Organization is now evolving into a knowledge center and a very well established data which is being leveraged to advocate with various stakeholders, particularly the government for policy changes and for slowly making systemic changes in the field of disability management and improving the life of persons with disabilities in this country. The Sangam has successfully developed a system based approach in providing rehabilitation at community level which has enabled to get very robust data base. This has enabled the Sangam to tap evidence based cause and effect aspects of disability, its rehabilitation and the positive consequences of such initiatives not only in the physical progression of children and persons with disabilities but also in the stress and strain of the parents and their living conditions. The Sangam is now in a position to develop itself into a Center of Excellence in providing rehabilitation services along with the planning and designing of any projects or programs. The technology that the Sangam has developed is the major success with unlimited potentials to evolve itself over a period of time. The Sangam is in a position to become a leader in this country in providing consultancy services in the areas of disability management and the inclusion of person with disabilities.

Our efforts to manage the persons with disabilities during the pandemic period is more challenging because unlike any other persons, PwDs are prone to the infection due to low immunity levels and their restricted mobility also is a concern. However, we have successfully managed and have quite satisfactorily rendered our services to them. Our field workers in rotation were at the doors of the PwDs every 10 ten days delivering the safety kits, dry rations. We have also distributed leaflets and conducted counseling to create awareness among them and the society in general.

We have covered more than 1600 families of PwDs in the rural areas of this region. We have received spontaneous appreciation from all the Pwds, their families and the general public of the region for our timely and impactful services to the PwDs. We realied that this was an opportunity given to us to discover our own unknown potentials and stay ahead.

The second wave of the pandemic is looming large and starring at us. With the help of all the stakeholders, well-wishers and supporters, we will overcome the second wave also with the Grace of God and through our innovative efforts.
