Dear Achvat Amim Supporters,
As I write this grant report, Achvat Amim Summer Solidarity participants are on a work day in the village of At-Tuwani, helping to restore the Mothers of Sumud Garden.
The village of At-Tawani (located in the Masafer Yatta region of the West Bank) is home to 1,000+ families living under Israeli military occupation. Many of our alumni have spent time there, running the Storytelling Project or meeting wit Awdah in Umm il-Kher..
For decades, this community has been using the tactics of non-violence to resist the occupation, forming a network of solidarity that has promoted and protected their livelihoods and ability to exist on their land.
The Mothers of Sumud Garden has undergone incredible transformation due to Achvat Amim's ongoing support. 200+ trees have been planted and three harvests of fruits, nuts, and vegetables have been collected. All of the food produced by the garden has been given back to the larger Masafer Yatta community for free.
We are proud of the exchanges taking place between our partners and our participants. When we look at the Mothers of Sumud Garden, we see the transformation and solidarity that our educational program makes possible!
Thank you for supporting this movement of self-determination for all people in the place they call home!
