Challenge

Over 42% of people in sub-Saharan Africa are living below the poverty line meaning their income is $1.90 or less per day. Playing conditions across sub-Saharan Africa vary widely due to climate and access to facilities. As a result, a standard balls can last as little as a few weeks. Despite significant progress in the last half century, communities supported by AK still faces serious challenges in dealing with deadly disease as well as physical and mental health.

Solution

Through the production and sale of AK sports balls, AK will create ethical jobs for adults from vulnerable job groups. Using profits from AK ball sales and growing new partnerships, AK will donate AK sports balls to community groups Using of 10 years of expertise AK will train local community leaders to deliver award winning health education directly through sport.

Long-Term Impact

1. Full time sustainable jobs for adults from vulnerable job groups 2. Durable sports balls that last and can be repaired 3. A network of skilled health educators who can deliver ongoing health education as part of their programs
