Progress report on food & nutrition interventions
By Jane Karanja | Project Coordinator.
This project has enabled many HIV affected families, to regain hope in their lives. They have embarked on activities that generate income for their households and also give them an opportunity to interact with others, making them appreciate their status and live positively.
There initiatives have spread within their localities, helping to create awareness on the importance of living positively, hence reducing stigma. Many are the ones who participated in this year’s World Aids day, and gave their testimonies of improved livelihoods through living positively.
We wish to thank our donors for their continued support. We are grateful that you have helped change lives.

After receiving heavy rainfall this year, which is still continuing the yields have also increased and we now have enough food for our families. The training provided on garden management has also contributed to the high production after practicing what we learnt. Although some crops has been affected by heavy rains we have more gains than losses and we are happy for the support provided. Beneficiaries also received tree seedling to plant in their farms for woodlots and also for environmental conservation and protection. As a result of heavy rains, the tree seedling are doing very well and soon they will be enjoying the “fruits of their labour”. Thank you for those opting to support us in one way or the other despite their own issues.

We were praying for the rains, and rains we got but too much than we had expected, we agree climate change is a big contributor to what we are currently experiencing. 45 beneficiaries were trained on garden management, mitigation and adaptation to climate change, and during the training one issue that came up very clearly is the importance of integrating indigenous knowledge with modern science to cope with new emerging weather conditions, to ensure food security. Most of the beneficiaries have planted diverse crops and looking forward for a good harvest, and others are benefiting from small enterprises, and we believe together we can make a difference and ensure food security for our communities.
We thank our donors for their continued support.
