REPORT OF BIODEGRADABLE PLASTIC BAGS PRODUCTION

Biodegradable Plastic Bags Project is a social enterprise aims to empower women and girls to produce bags in Tanzania. The project will empower women and young girls by giving them skills to create and produce environmentally friendly bags.

Given that plastic is a number one polluter of the environment and a silent killer of our natural environment. According to UNEP report 16 May 2023 shows that Millions of animals are killed by plastics every year, from birds to fish to other marine organisms. Nearly 700 species, including endangered ones, are known to have been affected by plastics. Nearly every species of seabird eats plastics". Since the 1990s, there has been an increase the plastic packages being placed on the markets. Most of the plastics packages are produced in China (28%), North America (19%) and Western Europe (19%). Plastic bags. 

I got the idea of raise money on the GlobalGiving platform in four months ago,

My goal was to raise $ 21,927 within 12 months. In order to produce biodegradable plastic bags, Provide training to women and girls every three months on the production of environmentally friendly bags in the community.

Results of fundraising 

  •  I have succeed to raising €90 from 3 donors.
  •  I have succeed to get 3 donors

Remaining

I am still looking to raise €19,360 on GlobalGiving platform

Project long-term impacts

Having women and adolescent girls trained in biodegradable plastic bags production of biodegradable products. Reduced the use of non-biodegradable plastic bag which take hundreds of years to decompose and contribute significantly to pollution in landfills, oceans, and ecosystems. Job Created in manufacturing, distribution, and sales in biodegradable plastic bag for entrepreneur's women and girls. there is a good conducive of environment. trained in biodegradable plastic bags production.

Challenges

  •   Lack of monthly donations.
  •   Shortage of friends and donors from USA and UK
  •   Shortage of volunteers from the USA and UK to raise money for our project or organization.
  •   Lack of staff from the USA or UK to help spread the message to donors


Opportunities

  •  We have the opportunity to be on the GlobalGiving platform that helps us meet friends, project leaders, volunteers, donors, Companies and organizations and help us raise funds.
  •  We have the opportunity to use social media for fundraising

We have the opportunity to participate in different events of fundraising.
