Youth in Kyengera wake up to closed doors: $3/GB internet, 1 computer per 300 students, and 92% have never applied online. Young women face even higher barriers to tech. While AI creates millions of jobs globally, local talent is stuck offline. Without digital skills and access, an entire generation will miss the AI economy and remain trapped in poverty. Talent is everywhere here - opportunity is not.
Our solar-powered Hub gives Kyengera keys to the digital economy. We train 500 youth/year in AI tools, digital marketing, freelancing, and coding. 60% of spots are reserved for young women. Free community WiFi connects 2,000+ residents for education, healthcare, and jobs. Solar power ensures zero electricity costs and learning during blackouts. We provide job placement + mentorship to turn skills into income. $50 trains 1 youth for 3 months. $250 gives a graduate a laptop to launch her career.
In 3 years, 1,500 youth will gain digital careers, with 60% earning $200-$800/month remotely. 6,000 community members will use free WiFi for school, business, and healthcare. Graduate fees and coworking rentals will make the Hub self-sustaining, keeping WiFi free forever. Kyengera becomes a blueprint for 10 more hubs across Uganda. The goal: young Africans leading the AI economy with dignity, not watching from the sidelines.
