Beyond Boxing Kenya intends to mentor and instill school going children with self defense skills, and also sensitise them about discipline and responsibility in the poverty and crime prone area of Pumwani in urban NAIROBI.
Pumwani is Nairobi's oldest government informal settlement. With massive increase in the Nairobi's population the government is trying to eradicate poverty but the rise in crime and school children drop out is clearly draining the efforts.Children as little as 11yrs are being groomed to join gangs, drug abuse/ prostitution, the outlawed AL-shabab. Beyond boxing provides hope and encouragement to children in the area through boxing as a means to life skills.
Beyond Boxing provides gym facilities , counseling and interactive talks to young children .The young children are trained in boxing as a means of self defense and encouraged to resort to conflict resolution through discipline.
The programs aims at training over 70 young kids, creating awareness about poverty eradication and self discipline as a means of livelihood, thus solving indiscipline and idleness.
