Many children are facing problem to complete their schooling after 18 years. It is also difficult for them for self sustained. It is mandatory for children to leave the child care institution after the age 18 and they aren’t prepare to stand on their feet. So, Aftercare is a provision for children after they have reached the age of 18 years, and are discharge from Children’s Homes/Special Homes or from Child Care Institutions (CCIs).

We teach them life skill education frequently, teaching them the adult responsibilities. We also facilitate for their higher education or skill development training and link them to their job opportunities.

Counseling and Life skill Education at Group Living Home

Counseling and life skill education is very important to help young adults to cope with challenges that they face in their day to day life. Counselling is given young adults regularly with the support of District child Protection Unit (DCPU) to improve the skills in confidence building and bright career towards their life. This stage is very challenging  for this adolescents group. In this stage, it is quite difficult to take the right decision for their career and to communicate with the elders in proper way. These situations lead to stress and anger issue. Though this life skills session young adults are more mature to learn better ways to communicate with mentors, adults and peers. They build their skill in developing their self esteem, and learn to take responsibilities for their next steps. These skills help them to take the right decision in a right way.Regular joint monitoring is going on to aftercare group with support of District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Child welfare Committee (CWC).
