By Dr Laila Rizvi | CEO

The COVID 19 Pandemic has changed the health care scenario globally. So is the case seen with Hepatitis elimination activities in Pakistan too

With lockdowns and social distancing, it has been impossible to maintain the tempo of community sensitization and Hep B vaccination within high risk communities. However, we are proud to report that no patient has missed the lifesaving medication during all this period. We have ensured that all patients ongoing treatment are followed up in a timely manners are requisite medicines provided

The Heath Foundation remains aligned to the Pakistan National Elimination Strategy and continues to tackle the 2 key areas i.e.

ü  Screen, test and treat all target aged population for HCV;

ü  Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy for improving health and social behaviours

Achievement till date:

  • More than 1,100,000 high risk population sensitized with targeted and tailor made health awareness session
  • 450,000 populations above 5 years of age fully immunized against Hepatitis B in selected high prevalent focus areas
  • 13,500 identified Hep B and C in adopted intervention areas linked to Free, timely and quality treatment services

An extensive social media campaign is ongoing to get the Hepatitis prevention and cure messages across.Shout outs by celebrates, technical experts, updates on what is Hepatitis, etc. have been part of this campaign
