Adopt a Family
Kenya has faced significant challenges with flooding, particularly due to heavy seasonal rains that cause rivers to break banks and caused flooding leading to widespread damage and displacement.
With the current floods in Kenya, the number of the impoverished families is on the rise. Woman’s Hope through Adopt a Family Initiative provided these families with the basic needs: dry food, clothes and beddings.
The number of the needy families enrolled increased our Current number to 200 beneficiaries. The Families are selected based on various criteria, including income level, household composition, and vulnerability indicators. Priority is given to families facing extreme poverty, food insecurity, or other socio-economic challenges. We also invited friends and Churches to support the initiative since the numbers were overwhelming. We are happy to report that, most families affected by the floods were able to get enough food and warm clothes.
Our plan is to walk with the families that were displaced till they have somewhere to call home.
Through the "Adopt a Family" program, participating families receive a monthly food package tailored to their nutritional needs. The packages typically include dry foods such as rice, beans, cooking oil, maize flour and wheat flour
Ensuring they have access to essential nutrients. One food package is able to last a family of five for two weeks and it costs $40. In a month we basically spend $90 on one family
