Adopt a Family program

By Staicy Wairimu | Social Media Manager

With the current economic hardships, the number of the impoverished families is on the rise. Woman’s Hope hence established a program to help provide these families with the basic requirements and essential food support. Currently, there are 100 families enrolled in the "Adopt a Family" program. Families are selected based on various criteria, including income level, household composition, and vulnerability indicators. Priority is given to families facing extreme poverty, food insecurity, or other socio-economic challenges.

The families chosen to participate in the program are considered vulnerable due to factors such as unemployment, illness, displacement, or lack of access to basic resources. Many of them struggle to afford nutritious meals and face the risk of malnutrition.

Through the "Adopt a Family" program, participating families receive a monthly food package tailored to their nutritional needs. The packages typically include staples such as rice, beans, cooking oil, maize flour, wheat flour and Ndengu (green grams), ensuring they have access to essential nutrients. One food package is able to last a family of five for two weeks and it costs $35. the high school education of two deserving girls, enabling them to pursue their high school education to completion..

Through our educational support program, we aim to break the cycle of poverty and empower girls to become agents of change in their communities.

We are grateful for the support of our partners, and GlobalGiving friends, whose contributions make it possible for us to adopt more deserving families, invest in girls  education and make a lasting impact on their lives.
