Project Report | Mar 10, 2017
November 2016 to January 2017 Report

By Ruben Torres | Project Leader

  • During this period (November 2016 to January 2017), a total of US$5,195 (via the GlobalGiving website from 42 donations, eight of them recurring, many thanks for the continued support). All your donations and giving this coral species a chance.
  • Coral reef nursery maintenance was conducted in our Palmar de Ocoa (S DR) location. Our trained staff there was in charge of the maintenance, the Ocoa Bay has some very fine sediments in the bottom, and metal frame nurseries that are touching the bottom, are not doing good, so we will inly keep corals in rope nurseries, that hang in the water column away from sediments in the bottom.
  • During Christmas, we had a very successful adopt-a-coral campaign in social media, in which we were able to raise much-needed funds, that will be used towards rebuilding the la caleta marine park coral nursery, destroyed by passing of storm Mathew.
  • The port company DP World Caucedo, adopted 75 corals for their premium clients as a Christmas gift, both the company and clients were very happy about this way of giving, as the funds raised will have a much longer effect on their lives and in our oceans, Thanks DP world Caucedo!
