I. Executive Summary
During this quarter, the Vidya Jyothi Library at Agastya’s Creativity Campus, Kuppam, continued to function as an active learning and community engagement space. The focus remained on book acquisition, library usage, digital learning initiatives, outreach activities, and community participation.
The library witnessed consistent engagement from campus students, teachers, staff, and visitors through regular library visits, digital sessions, and special events. Unique student participation remained strong, indicating sustained interest and utilization of library resources.
However, a key operational concern persisted during this period, as book cataloguing was not undertaken. This gap continues to affect the organization and accessibility of library resources and needs immediate attention.
II. Program Highlights and User Engagement
A. Reach and Participation
The library recorded steady participation from students, teachers, staff members, and general visitors throughout the quarter. Both the Library and Digital Library programs contributed significantly to overall engagement.
Campus students actively accessed library resources, and additional exposure was generated through special events and outreach activities. Participation from visiting schools further strengthened the library’s role as a shared learning space for the wider community.
B. Educational and Community Initiatives
Books Acquisition and Donation:
Books were received from individual donors during the quarter, contributing to the enrichment of the library collection.
Books Cataloguing:
No book cataloguing activities were carried out during this period, resulting in a continued backlog of uncatalogued resources.
Library Activities and Outreach:
Regular library visits and outreach sessions were conducted, ensuring continuous interaction with students and community members.
Government Teachers Engagement:
A capacity-building session on storytelling with puppets was conducted for government teachers by Mrs. Yallamma, focusing on creative teaching practices and classroom engagement.
Digital Literacy – “Apni Pathasala”:
“Apni Pathasala” sessions under the Digital Library program were facilitated, providing students with access to digital content and interactive learning experiences.
Library Open Day:
The Library Open Day was celebrated during the quarter, with participation from both private and government schools. The event encouraged students and teachers to explore library resources and strengthened school–library connections.
Innovative Practices:
Alexa devices were used during selected sessions to promote questioning skills, curiosity, and interactive learning among students.
III. Conclusion and Recommendation
The Vidya Jyothi Library demonstrated consistent performance in program delivery and community engagement during the quarter. Regular library usage, digital learning sessions, teacher engagement activities, and special events reflect the library’s growing importance as a learning hub.
However, the absence of book cataloguing remains a critical operational issue. Initiating and completing cataloguing activities should be treated as a priority to ensure that library resources are well organized, easily accessible, and effectively utilized by all beneficiaries.
