Thank you so much for your donation to IDRAP work on Accessible Clean Water to Poor Families in South East Province in eastern part of Indonesia. Your generosity means everything to us and to the community we serve. We know you have a lot of choices when it comes to donating, and we are so grateful that you chose to donate to our cause. We promise to be responsible stewards of both your donation and your trust.
The field activities carried out by IDRAP with the community during this period were collecting local materials such as stones, sand, and gravel for the needs of reservoir construction which would be a place for sedimentation to produce cleaner water before being distributed to people's houses. The community was very enthusiastic in collecting these local materials by devoting their time and energy and bringing them near the reservoir construction site. At least 50 people were involved in collecting these local materials, including women who were also involved to show their enthusiasm for obtaining clean water.
The spirit and dream of the community to get clean water can be seen from the many local materials that they collect near the reservoir construction site located on a mountain about 2 kilometers from the village settlement. There were 6 cubic meters of mountain rocks collected, 8 cubic meters of sand and 7 cubic meters of gravel. The collection of a total of 21 cubic meters of local materials was carried out through mutual cooperation (gotong-royong) by utilizing their free time after working in the fields for farmers and at sea for fishermen.
“I am very enthusiastic to participate in realizing this project. I and six members of my family have participated in collecting mountain stones for the needs of constructing a reservoir as a temporary water sedimentation before being distributed to people's houses." Jufrian, villager, Southeast Sulawesi.
Thank you for your support. We are all improving the quality of health of the poor by providing affordable clean water for them. Working together to realize the basic rights of everyone, especially poor families, while realizing SDG No. 6: access to water and sanitation for all.
