Challenge

Sra is a poor rural community with limited access to education. People including 500 children cannot read or write in this 21st century. Dropout rate is 80% because of poor infrastructure.

Solution

Free meal and improvement of this educational infrastructure (construct, plaster and paint the classroom block and provision of visual aids) will reduce dropout rate such that children stay in the class to learn how to read and write with visual aids reinforcing learning. It is an established fact that 75% of what we learn come through seeing. Therefore visual aids coupled with improved classroom block contribute to the higher level of learning.

Long-Term Impact

The project will educate 500 children allowing them to grow out of poverty, which will provide for their families' health and well-being. Furthermore, it will form the base of producing skillful labour force for the community in terms of commerce, industry and civil service should they have sound basic educational foundation which this project is intended to do. Moreover, it will raise the level of science and technology in the community since the use of computers would be introduced.

This project has provided additional documentation in a Microsoft Word file (projdoc.doc).
