Dear animal lovers,
Since our last update in October, we have been extremely busy with rescuing, saving and caring for so many abandonned dogs and cats…
Here is a short summary of what we have done medically in the last 4 months;
35 dogs and 8 cats were rescued from shelters and streets therefore all the initial tests and controls are done and treatment of some illnesses started. 4 of these dogs were puppies and 3 of the cats were little kittens which means even more medical care needed to keep them alive unfortunately we lost one puppy to distemper (RIP Harper).
Besides Harper, we had Kona / Odie and Mona tested positive on Distemper but survived after several weeks of treatment. We also had another severe case - Riley who needed a leg amputation. Three heartworm cases Fiona / Cassie and Bear (we had to order special medication from Europe) Several cases of Erlishia and giardia that have been treated or on-going… It is rarely the case that an animal comes out of those overcrowded, poor condition shelters without a disease!
We got hit very badly in December by a wave of nasty viruses in the boarding house and even the fully vaccinated ones got distemper like Waffles and Mallow or kennel cough like Molly / Riley / Tango and Twix but we managed to save them.
15 spaying and neutering are done and we have 10 dogs and 4 cats to be done in the up coming weeks…
34 titer tests are registered which is a requirement for EU adoption and one test cost around USD 240.- It is one of the biggest hurdles for adoption. We still have 23 animals waiting for their tests!
Routine care, deworming, advantix multi drops, vaccinations of 75+ dogs and 10 cats are on-going
Some emergency cases which never stop like Yuki’s urgent leg surgery 2 weeks ago, the pin had to be taken out before the infection reaches the deeper tissue, luckily we got it on time!
Our current clinic debts is around USD 25’000. Thanks to GlobalGiving campaign in December, we managed to gather USD 15’000.- and we plan to pay our overdue clinic bills once the sum is in our account. However, we cumulated some amount afterwards so once we send the December donations we will still have a considerable amount of USD 10'000.-
Unfortunately, we cannot rescue as much as needed, shelters are full of poor dogs and cats who are waiting desperately for a hand to reach out and save them from the misery…
We need your HELP to HELP THEM.
