Hello,
Since the beginning of the project, we have sent questionnaires to the homes along the historical 53 stations of Tokaido which we have renamed the "53 stations of empowerment".
After doing this survey, we got in touch with a orphanage in Shinagawa which we sent one computer and followed up on homes in Kyoto as well as reached out to Osaka and Hokkaido.
We bought 8 laptops for one of the homes that we support called Taiyo Gakuen in Ofunato, Tohoku. We also received donated laptops and desktops we are refurbishing to be deployed.
During COVID 19 lockdown, we gave 4 macbooks away to the young adults who left the homes and who have entered university but were sent home to study online which they could not as they did not have their own device.
Another home received assistance from us to purchase and subscribe to an online learning database with tablets allowing them to study and attend cram school online.
Currently, only 5% of the children living in the homes have access to Wi-Fi, when we are done, we hope that this bring us to 100%.
As we are living in an information society, we see access to Wi-Fi as a human right.
Thank you for your generosity, and we are looking forward to keeping you updated about our progress.
Regards,
YouMeWe NPO
