One step away from Clean Water

Dear Cherished Donors,
We are excited to bring you updates on the progress of our community water project.
The Tusani Community continues to face significant water challenges following the drying up of their main dam. With only one borehole serving the entire population, access to safe water remains limited and stressful, especially during the dry season.
This community project therefore aims to construct a mechanized borehole to provide reliable and safe water for domestic and livelihood activities, improving health, hygiene, and overall quality of life.
Progress Made This Period
Community Mobilization:
- The community has shown strong commitment by organizing themselves and contributing both local labor and skills for construction of a concrete platform for a tank, and financial resources worth GHS 6,000.00 to purchase electrical wires and an electric pump towards the mechanized borehole construction.
Equipment Acquisition :
- The community has acquired a water storage tank for the mechanized system.
- A water pump has been purchased and is ready for installation.
- Electrical wires needed for the system have also been procured. Challenges Encountered
- Electrical Connection Gap:

- With the tank, pump, and wiring now secured, the outstanding need is funding to connect electricity to the site, install the pump system, and complete the distribution setup.
Water Demand Pressure:
- The existing single borehole continues to be overstretched, especially as temperatures rise during the dry season in the Northern Region, increasing urgency for the completion of this mechanized borehole.
- Impact So Far

- Strengthened community ownership, active participation, and social cohesion.
- Increased awareness of safe water and sanitation needs.
- Built momentum and hope among residents for a sustainable solution.
- Tangible progress toward completion, with a tank, pump, and wiring now in place.

Dear Cherished donors!
we are excited to bring to you some update in terms of progress on our community water project.
The Tusani Community continues to face significant water challenges following the drying up of their main dam. With only one borehole serving the entire population, access to safe water remains limited and stressful, especially during the dry season. It is against this difficulty that gave birth to this project which aims to construct a mechanized borehole to provide reliable and safe water for domestic and livelihood activities, improve health, hygiene, and overall quality of life of the community and by extension the neighboring communities.
- Progress Made This Period
- Community Mobilization:
This project was conceived as a self-help project and for that matter has received strong commitment from community members in varied forms including both cash and in-kind contributions. A total financial amount of GHC14,000 was mobilized to support the delivery of this project so far.
- Site Preparation:
Initial groundwork for the borehole construction has been completed, including site clearing and preparation and drilling of the borehole.
- Partial Construction Works:
Work on the borehole structure has begun, with key foundational steps completed. The project is currently at the finishing stage pending additional funding.
3. Challenges Encountered
- Funding Gap:
The primary challenge remains insufficient funds to complete the mechanization process which include the installation of pump system, storage tank, and distribution lines.
- Water Demand Pressure:
The existing single borehole continues to be overstretched, especially as temperatures rise during this dry season in the Northern Region, increasing urgency for the completion of this mechanized borehole.
4. Impact So Far
The project has:
- Strengthened community ownership, intense participation and social cohesion.
- Increased awareness of safe water and sanitation needs.
- Built momentum and hope among residents for a sustainable solution.
- Next Steps
- Call for Support
- Complete the installation of the mechanized pumping system.
- Construct water storage and distribution infrastructure.
- Laboratory testing and commission the borehole for full community use.
The Tusani community has done its part by contributing labor and mobilizing local resources. However, additional support is urgently needed to complete the project and make clean water accessible to all.
