Neoumanist Association provides residential care, home visits and day treatment to over one hundred elderly in the district of Straseni in the Republic of Moldova. Our beneficiaries are typically impoverished, vulnerable, and without family support and many of them are chronically ill and homebound.
While Neohumanist Association has been able to raise funds to maintain its programs and pay its employees for the past twelve years, there is not enough left over for maintenance or operational costs. The roofs of our day treatment center and our residential facility are aging and continually leak during the rainy months. Additionally, we have discovered the current materials contain asbestos, which is a highly toxic substance that poses a danger to our residents, beneficiaries and employees.
By reroofing our buildings, we will solve the ongoing problem of leakage, decreasing our maintenance costs and heating bills. We will offer a safer environment for all the people who depend on us for their health and livelihood.
Being able to maintain and ensure the viability of our structures will enable us to continue with our mission of providing hot meals, recreational and therapeutic activities, showers and clothes washing machines, and a warm place to gather for elderly persons who do not have these access to these amenities otherwise. And we will be able to assure an ongoing safe and healthy living environment for the 20 sick and vulnerable elderly in home care at our facility.
