Christmas update!!

We are coming to end of another year for Basti Ram and what a fantastic year it has been!

Not only did we receive a massive donation from the Bazar International de Luxembourg for their generous donation of £5043.28!

We are also participating in The Big Small Charity Draw organised by the FSI. Visit here for more information http://www.smallcharitydraw.org/. A big THANK YOU to everyone!

We have reached our target and we are now able to purchase the much needed items for the Mobile School Library.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated towards the project. Thank you to all those who have took part on one of our international projects as you have also contributed towards this and to the Bazar International de Luxembourg for their generous donation of £5043.28! Thank you to everyone in the past that has donated we really appreciate the help you have given us.

Our next steps?

The project idea is an educational bus that will be full of educational equipment for two of our projects:

1. We will bring teachers and educational resources to children and young people living in extremely isolated rural communities in Rajasthan, India. These villages have no permanent school building and the majority of the population have never attended school. This project aims to create school going habits in young people from these communities, by providing fun engaging lessons and relevant resources for the children and young people to use. Our long term plan will be to have the capacity to work with the parents of these children to help promote the benefits of an education.

2. We will equip a group of young boys living in a destitute boy's home in Rajasthan, India with the skills and knowledge to find decent employment once they are 18. The education the boys receive is poor - there is high teacher truancy and poor teacher training. Many people in India work because they must. They don't have the time or skills to search for a decent job so the work found is usually hazardous. This project aims to provide the boys with the skills, time and knowledge to find decent employment.

Your help and contribution has helped us be able to purchase the bus and equipment to go towards the two projects.

We are now focusing on fundraising to employ a local teacher for the year to assist on the project working in the destitute boys home. Additionally, we are always applying for grants to help assist us on these projects.
