Summary

10000 mangroves will be planted in 3 months at Thondiyakadu, siruthalaikadu and Kodiyakadu (point calimare) and 1000 coastal community as fishermen, students, etc will be motivated. It will maintain coastal eco-system with safe breeding and habitation of fishes, birds, clams and species. It Magically absorbs Co2 that one hectare Mangroves absorb 31 metric ton CO2 or 8.5 metric ton carbon per year. It is for mitigating climate changes and green gas creation. it saves the GLOBE

Challenge

Tamil Nadu coastal is affected often by Cyclone, Tsunamai and high tide. Farmers, fishermen and other coastal community are severely affected. In other side destruction of forest, Prawns culture, encroachment and tourism are affecting coastal eco-system. The existing mangroves are cut for firewood as they are lack of knowledge on importance of Mangroves and coastal environment. Waste land in coastal is invaded for environmental deg

Solution

ROSI Foundation is promoting motivation among farmers, students and coastal communities on existing mangroves conservation and new planting in 120 KM covering Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam district. Nursery for mangroves is being promoted in four spots in Coastal of Tamil Nadu (Bay Bengal). Each nursery will deliver 12500 Mangroves saplings in every year that 100000 will be planted. In four years 400000 Mangroves will be planted and maintained.

Long-Term Impact

It will maintain coastal eco-system with safe breeding and habitation of fishes, birds, clams, mollusks and specie. One hectare mangroves absorb 32 metric tons of CO2 and prevent from Tsunami and cyclone disasters destruction. The existing mangroves are cut for firewood as they are lack of knowledge on importance among public.
