In the remote savannah region of North-East Ghana, nine villages and more than 10,000 people have waited generations for reliable access to healthcare. In December 2025, a dream became reality. Zambulkura Community Medical Center was officially inaugurated in the presence of regional leaders, including the Regional Minister, HE Tia Ibrahim. A dedicated water supply, will realize the full potential of the medical center: Safe childbirth, infection prevention, handwash and overall hygiene.
The nearest borehole is too far away to pump water to the health facility, which serves pregnant women, newborn babies, patients, staff, and emergency cases. Clean water is not a luxury. It is essential for: Safe childbirth, infection prevention, handwashing, general hygiene, cleaning medical equipment, patient care, staff accommodation. Approx. 95% of the investment has already been made in building the infrastructure, the remaining 5% for the water is needed to ensure optimal operation.
The medical facility serves approximately + 10,000 people across 9 villages and surrounding settlements and funding of this microproject will ensure this critical piece for optimal function: CLEAN WATER, for the Maternity ward where women can safely give birth close to home Clinic and emergency unit with patient beds Laboratory for testing for malaria, common infectious diseases, and basic diagnostics Pharmacy, storage, staff accomodation, overall hygiene, environmental safety.
The project will safeguard quality healthcare services to a total of +10000 people from 9 communities. Allowing early diagnosis of sicknesses and treatment to prevent complications leading to permanent deformities or deaths, especially during prolonged child birth. It will serve as a center for improved mother and child-health in these villages, hence improvement of their health status, learning capacity and longterm health security. And also help reduce the burden on the Nalerigu hospital.
