Last year, Globalgiving donors provided 50 blankets to the vulnerable children under our care. The distribution of blankets to children and families will help battle the drastic cold, kids sleep in the cold as they do not have any cloth to cover them and keep them warm in cold nights, this exposes children to risks of acquiring cold and flu, Hypothermia which is caused by getting too cold and many more complications.
Children are vulnerable to shocks and adversities and, consequently, are hardest hit by poverty.60% of the children in this community sleep in the cold at night due to lack of warm blankets, this also causes them cold, fever and general body weakness.
The project will distribute one blanket per child just to keep the kids warm, these have been identified from the vulnerable communities where we work. When children are kept in good health, they grow up happy and intelligent.
Children are the future leaders, the next generation has to be enabled to attain their dreams, these blankets will last for over 5 years, that means that if a child is in primary seven, by the time the blanket wears out, she will have finished a tertiary course and will be able to buy their own.
