“Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you
seem, and smarter than you think.” - Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne
Dear friends and allies,
The end of the 2016 has arrived and we are reflecting back on how we have strived to instill a
believe of hope in each and every child`s future at each and every children`s homes around
Japan that Living Dreams and Mirai no Mori is a part of.
Over the past several days We`ve been pondering this quote and all the truth it holds. Both
NPO Living Dreams and Mirai no Mori, are effectively expressing and instilling “bravery” and
“strength” and a belief in the children`s own hearts that they smart and capable of contributing to
lives of others in this world. I am proud of what has happened at all the camps this past summer
and I am so thankful for your support and belief in being a part of something special taking place
here in Japan with these children`s lives.
LIVING DREAMS & MIRAI NO MORI SUMMER CAMP 2016
Earlier in June, Matt Miller (www.thesoundoflittlefeet.com) participated in the Ironman 70.3
Japan race as charity racer to help raise funds to provide children living in institutional homes
the opportunity to attend one of the amazing summer camps held each summer by Living
Dreams and Mirai no Mori in July and August. As an Ambassador for both Living Dreams and
Mirai no Mori, Matt is passionate about the summer programs that both these NPOs have
created that provide avenues of possibility for these children`s future.
LIVING DREAMS DESIGNING ARTS ACADEMY
Through cooking, dance, music, painting, photography, digital creation as well as various
interactive hands on lectures the children had a great time with all the amazing professionals
that volunteered their time to impact these children`s lives.
The amazing people and organizations who have been committed to empowering and enabling
children living in institutional care homes are part of what makes Designing Artist Academy
special each and every year.
Here is a wonderful video of one of the many workshops that took place over the course of the
summer that Matt filmed to share with you: https://vimeo.com/179718323
MIRAI NO MORI SUMMR CAMP IN MIYAGI, JAPAN
Bear bells, camp songs, making bracelets, new hair braids, campfires, the mixture of fear,
astonishment and a sense of accomplishment on the faces of the campers as they re-emerge
from under water after their jumps off waterfalls, a magical unicorn and dinosaur, camp chants
of “we did it!”, lots of bugs, laughter, rain, sunshine, the sound of nature and a sky full of stars.
Those were a few wonderful things that helped to create a special outdoor camp for the children
this past summer that focused on helping the children to break through their current self-limiting
beliefs, challenge themselves in new ways and build solid connections with others at camp.
Matt had the privilege of participating as part of the Mirai no Mori summer camp staff this
summer and had an amazing time connecting with the children and watching them step out of
their comfort zones and challenge themselves.
THANK YOU
Thank you again to everyone who helped send more children to camp this summer and for
playing a part in impacting their lives in ways we hope to see and hear about years from now
because of the opportunities provided this year to them.
Matt made a special holiday video for all of you, we hope you enjoy it: https://vimeo.com/
