Bringing a STEMful Future to 100 Kids

By Jenna Nguyen | Manager of National Strategic Partnerships

Thank you for helping Raising A Reader deliver STEM programming to 100 pre-K and Kindergarten children in low-income schools throughout the United States. With your support, we are bringing STEM book sets to children and families who need it most.

Introducing STEM concepts – science, technology, engineering and math – at this early stage in each child’s development will prepare them for future success in school and possibly lead them to future careers in STEM fields. Through RAR's family engagment component, we will also introduce families – parents, caregivers and even siblings, cousins and extended family – to the importance of sharing in their child’s learning through reading together.

Did you know on the inside of each Raising A Reader STEM title, parents will find a STEM Bookplate that identifies which of the four STEM categories a particular book title belongs to? The STEM Bookplate also provides a simple definition about what the STEM category is, outlines early childhood STEM concepts that can be found in that book, and question frames or simple activity suggestions that parents can use to engage their children in a STEM focused discussion while engaging in book sharing.

Not only are you bringing STEM books into children's homes, you are also helping them learn specific STEM concepts. Thank you for your continued support of the RAR STEM program!
