Help us deliver literacy and family engagement programs - books and materials in STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) - to low income children at risk of academic failure in the United States.
Minority populations and the economically disadvantaged are poorly represented in STEM fields. Studies show inequalities and gaps in STEM learning begin early in a child's life, making it difficult to catch up with their more advantaged peers. By introducing and reinforcing STEM concepts we can help turn this around through parent training, our unique RAR children's book collection, extension activities and connections to local libraries.
This project will ensure 100 4-6 year old children and their families participate in Raising A Reader's validated STEM literacy program that provides vital resources to classrooms while offering a means for parents to build their child's interest in STEM. Over the course of the program, children will be introduced to more than 100 books and special STEM-themed book collections, as well as STEM activities that parents and children can enjoy together to promote a love of learning.
By supporting this project you will help provide a solid foundation of STEM and early literacy for children across the US that will result in more children from low income communities represented in STEM related fields in years to come.
