This microproject will provide access to safe drinking water in 10 rural schools in Santiago del Estero, one of the most underserved provinces in Argentina. Today, many of these schools rely on rainwater stored in cisterns or water delivered by truck. Often, this water is unsafe and consumed without treatment, putting children's health at constant risk.
This project will improve the quality of life for over 300 children and 170 families in rural Argentina. In these communities, schools lack safe drinking water. Children consume untreated rainwater or depend on costly deliveries, leading to illness and missed school days. By installing ceramic filters and basic infrastructure, we will ensure safe, daily water access for learning and health.
Fundacion San Genarot will install ceramic filters and improve rainwater harvesting systems in 10 rural schools. Each system includes a filter, piping, and a water pump, ensuring safe water for drinking and cooking. The solution is low-tech, effective, and requires no electricity. Our team also provides training to ensure proper use and long-term maintenance.
Access to clean water will reduce preventable diseases, improve school attendance, and promote better hygiene habits. Families will also benefit when they participate in school activities. Over time, this project will build healthier learning environments, strengthen community trust in education, and show children that their lives-and their futures-matter.
