New bathrooms at our Montessori preschool!

In late November 2023, Yspaniola launched a crucial fundraising appeal to build safe and suitable toilets for preschool students, as part of the Giving Tuesday campaign. Conveniently, around the same time Building Beyond Borders (B3) were looking to collaborate on a construction project abroad with their dedicated team of young volunteers. In January, our community was selected and works began in February.

Thanks to your generous donations, as well as the hard work of B3, we were able to create an essential healthcare facility for the children of Batey Libertad.

The opening of the Montessori preschool marks an important milestone, allowing us to finalize preparations for our students to thrive in their new learning environment. Your contributions have allowed 47 children to receive education with the Montessori method, promoting autonomy and enhancing cognitive and social skills.

In Batey Libertad, many families work long, demanding hours, making it difficult to provide adequate care to their young children during the day. Yspaniola preschool classes relieve parents of this burden, ensuring that children receive the developmental support and education they deserve.

Our teachers María Esther and Johnny and our assistant Mariela have dedicated themselves to ensuring that preschool students receive a high-quality education, preparing them to adapt with better tools to public school.

The implementation of the Montessori curriculum, along with the new bathrooms, will further promote children's autonomy and independence, even in their daily routines. Thank you for supporting our children, for a bright and promising future.
