Part 1: GENERAL INFORMATION

Executive summary

This report covers the comprehesive information on the first miciroprojecct we have had with our partner GlobaGiving Foundation (GGF) that has made us register the first successfully funded project. Our other project " Learn to Earn - No: 38183"  funding has not yet reached ceiling as it is still ongoing.

With the pandemic ravaging every part of the world, our donors and well-wishers have kept us in their minds thus with five donors, we received 60% of our funding request and we consider it complete. A local donor from Uganda was among those who funded our Mircoprojecct  that made us share the GGF matching fund! We continue to glorify the donors in all their gustures and ask God to grant them all good health and fortunes.

We mentained consistency in reaching out to the 13 trainees we sent home because of the lockdown the government of Uganda have continued hold on training institutions to minimise the spread of Covid-19 and maintain an optimistic believe that our training institution will be open in two months time so that our trainees will complete their studies and become Independent no more Dependent.

During this lockdown we have continued to receive calls from organisations like CARE International, Search for Common Ground and VSO International - Gulu Office tofind out if we have re-openned the institution but we are a law abiding organisation so we wat for the offical government declaration.

Progress on Results:

We received six donations,  one in June 2020, four in July 2020  and one being a gifted aid one made during the July Bonus day in the microproject that earned FHF bonus contribution from GlobalGiving Foundation. The total donations on this project ID:47760 was USD1,184.98 of which the first instalment of USD186.10 was sent to our bank account  on 30/07/2020 while the second installment of USD970.82 was sent to us on 25th August 2020 leaving a balance of USD28.06 still to be transfered together with some funds for project ID 38183. We have used USD1,156.92 of the funds sent on the planned items as captured in the report below.

The funds were used as specified in the Microproject proposals aalso stated in the appeal submitted to GlobalGiving Foundation team with the terms and conditions specified in financing microporjects. A lockdown has still contiuned on specific services area which affects part of our implementation but funds were used to acquire some of the items recommended for actual training by the trainees.

Main activities:

We undertook the following:

Part 2: Other Information

2.1: Partiticpation:

We participated in the Little x Little Campaigns of September 2020 though out of 20 donors requested to support, we received funding from one of them specifically made to this microproject. We have joined hands with Gulu District Local Government with permission from the Covid 19 Taskfoce under the office of the Resident District Commisioner (RDC) through the District Health Office to use our megaphone to campaign agaisnt Covid 19 in the different trading centres and designated locations.

2.3: Gender Equity

a. We maintained a balanced opinion on gender issues at all times during this pandemic activity implementation.

2.4: Child Centeredness and Rights Based Approaches

a. The trainee with the child has remained vigilant and kept in touch with her tutor and the school where she has been able to master making a simple mask. She was guided through by her tutor on measures against her child and her trade.

2.5: Challenges, Lessons Learnt and dissemination

a. We have learned some lesson to apply on our project ID No: 38183 at the moment as there is lockdown affecting training institutions but are confident of resuming in early 2021.

b. We learned how valuable a continous communications to the staff saved the situation so that they received/ shared some little in-kind food items amongs themselves making them feel attached to their workplace.

c. We learned about Covid-19 through the Philantrophy University website and participated in several webinars and one course.

2.6: Emerging Advocacy Issues:

a. We have not participated in any advocacy programs as most institutions are temporaliy closed due to Covid-19.

2.7: Organizational Changes:

a. The ‘’Restart Gulu Trades School after Covid 19 closure’’ was active until September 23rd 2020 when it was retired on the GlobalGiving Foundation though remained active becuase of the report. This report covers the entire project which we conclude by comfirming it as ONE of the BIGGEST SUCCESS.

b. The staff, location of institution, and management set-up have remained in force that supported the Covid-19 pandemic situation much as we are planning ahead to erect temporary fence to enclose the school.

c. We reactivated the website hosting and subscription plan with funds from this suppport thereby keeping the public informed about us and soon to publist on the website this success story about the microproject.

d. The media network like Facebook and twitter were an active means to reach out our foreign and local supporters given the guides from GGF.

e. We paid USD82.87 as rent for January, February, March and April 2020  and the Landlord waived-off the accumulated rent for the second and third term of 2020 which covers the period from May - December 2020.

2.8: Other Comments:

A second microproject is desired to secure specific items that our project requires. A temporary fence as ealier mentioned is a requirements from the Ministy of Education and Sports/Ministry of Health Standards Operating Procedures (SOPs) as listed in their guideline to allow us open and operate the training institute.
